Multidisciplinary research projects

Do you want to gain broad and international breeding experience in diverse crops? For our Breeder Trainee Development Plan we are looking for plant breeders with a high interest in advanced and innovative plant breeding methods.

What are you going to do as Trainee Breeder?

The purpose of this new position is to train breeders to become all-round experts with broad breeding skills in working with different crops and in different countries. These activities are part of the Breeder Trainee Development Plan. For 18 months, you will dive into breeding programmes in three different European countries. In this process, you will become skilled in breeding for specific breeding objectives and for local conditions.

You will collaborate on preparing and carrying out breeding programmes. And you will observe, assess and select crops and report and analyse results. You will become an all-round Enza Zaden breeder who develops competitive crops. As a Trainee Breeder you collaborate in multidisciplinary research projects and work with researchers, biotech breeders and bio-informaticians.

You will consult with the Crop Breeding Manager, Senior Breeder or Product Specialist on varieties from the first screening and for qualifying for the second screening. To analyse all data you need to record and process the data in the Enza Zaden database and using statistical tools.
